How to become a member of the British Global Talent Council?
1. Complete the online application
Visit the BGTC website and complete the application form with accurate information.
2. Wait for your application to be accepted
After submitting your application, wait patiently for confirmation that your application has been accepted.
3. Write an essay
Once your application has been accepted, write a compelling essay that showcases your talents and experience.
4. Wait for your essay to be reviewed
After submitting your essay, the BGTC team will carefully review your application.
5. Receiving the decision
Finally, you will receive a decision regarding your application to join BGTC.

The British Global Talent Council brings together people doing serious work in arts and culture, science, technology, venture and business innovation. Membership is not bought. It is granted after review, and members pay annual dues once they are admitted.
Who we admit
We look for a record rather than a promise. That usually means some combination of the following, evidenced rather than asserted:
- work recognised outside your own organisation: awards, selections, commissions, citations, exhibitions, published research
- a contribution others can point to, in a field we cover
- willingness to give something back to the Council, whether that is mentoring, speaking, judging or opening a door for someone earlier in their career
We turn down applications, and we do it regularly. That is what makes admission worth having.
How admission works
- Application. A short form: who you are, what you have done, and links to the evidence.
- First review. We check the record against the criteria above and reply within ten working days.
- Statement. If the application passes, we ask for a short written statement about your work and what you want from the Council.
- Decision. The review panel decides and writes to you either way. We give reasons for a refusal.
- Dues. Admitted members pay annual dues of £495. Dues are payable after admission, never before, and they do not influence the decision.
What membership includes
- a member profile on the Council website and a membership certificate
- invitations to Council events, and introductions within the membership
- the education programme: lectures, seminars and one career consultation per quarter
- an orientation session on UK Global Talent routes, and an introduction to accredited immigration advisers where relevant
What membership is not
- It is not editorial coverage. The Council does not publish articles about its members as a benefit of membership. Editorial work is a separate service and editors decide independently what they publish.
- It is not immigration advice. We explain what evidence is usually expected on the Global Talent routes and introduce advisers who are regulated to advise. We do not advise ourselves.
- It is not a shortcut. Membership says a panel looked at your record and thought it stood up. It does not say anything else, and we do not let it be presented as though it does.
Supporting the Council
The Council also accepts donations from people and organisations who want to widen access to the education programme. Donations are separate from membership, confer no membership status, and are acknowledged where the donor wishes.
