Threads of Connection, a new cultural initiative, brings together Manchester Museum, Manchester Metropolitan University's School of Digital Arts (SODA) and members of the local creative community. The project explores how heritage, education and technology can intersect to create new forms of artistic expression and public interaction.

Threads of Connection reinterprets five Chinese textile artefacts from the Li Kai Hong Gallery of Chinese Culture, turning them into sources of contemporary inspiration. SODA students create digital stories, textile experiments and multimedia works, combining traditional materials with contemporary technology and visual art.
The project emphasises Manchester's historic connection to the textile industry and innovation. The city, once known as 'Cottonopolis', continues to intertwine its industrial past with its digital future. The initiative brings together academic and creative environments, providing students with professional development opportunities and promoting intercultural dialogue.
"Threads of Connection shows that cultural heritage is not something frozen - it evolves through creativity and collaboration," Katerina notes. - "This project reflects the very essence of Manchester, where art, technology and education naturally intersect."
Threads of Connection is a step towards a new understanding of how cultural heritage can interact with innovation and education. The project embodies the collaborative spirit at the heart of Manchester's creative ecosystem, bringing together institutions, generations and disciplines.
